design freaks must go to Seaside and Alys Beach, Florida: Part 1

Oh, I have so much to share with y'all when I get back.  I had such an
inspiring, relaxing time.  But I am ready to get back to my boys.

I leave you with some inspiration from Seaside and Alys Beach.  If you are
truly inspired by design and architecture, you must plan a trip here.

Above is a kitchen in Alys Beach.  The designer is Susan Massey.
I had a serendipitous meeting with her (I was locked out of my rental
right behind her shop!) and immediately fell in love.  I leave you
this weekend with some of her work.  And thank you to my guest
posters this week...what beautiful & fun posts!!

following are the rest of the images from this home (from Trad. Home....Susan
only did the kitchen)

below is another fun kitchen of hers....from Southern Accents  (can't you see a similarity
in the kitchens' styles?)

And here are some images I snapped for a client at her shop
Bohlert Massey Home  If you have time now, please
click on this link and view her portfolio.  Even do it if you
don't have time.  She is that good.

check out the sconce and the chinoiserie mirror

I have been thinking of this silver chest/ coffee table paired with
this sofa since I left her shop.  I can so see it in our den!

Here is a room she designed for Seaside's Designer Showcase
Home.

I wish I had a good image of the green of these chests (you can
see them again in her portfolio).  It is like this dreamy Army green, but
it looks so lovely with all the cream and white she has.  I went
nuts over these in her store!!

This is what I mostly did on my little beach break.  Reading, swimming, taking
pictures, sleeping.

 Not a parenting
book....not a design book...a good beach (pool) book.

Have a good weekend!  Julie

Did you enjoy The Help? I loved that book. I hear that it is being made into a movie.

  12. I'm loving that one orange kitchen pic. And I LOVE Seaside. Haven't been in so many years, but it's a great example of neighborhood oriented urban planning as well as clever design. No two picket fences are alike.
