Atlanta Bartlett Monday

Mondays are tough, right?  I hope these will lift your spirits.  Atlanta Bartlett always raises mine.  I do have to admit that she is my favorite designer/stylist.  That is saying a lot....but she has a beautiful use of white, but not void of color.  She has an eye for placement and light....and I love her mix of eras and styles.  My favorite all-time design book (and I think I have read them all) is Easy Elegance (you can see it to the right on my book list).  I only think one of these images from her portfolio are from that particular book.

Oh, and I have so much work to be done around here this week....just the laundry is overwhelming, much less finishing projects here and there.  This was my uniform this weekend:  cotton gown worn inside out and I didn't even bother to fix it.  Too tired to even attempt to put in contacts (I am the blindest person you'll ever meet.  These are total coke bottles.  I am so grateful I wasn't born in 1530?  Would I have been in a sanitarium my entire life for not being able to see?  What did people do before glasses?

I was laughing with my hairstylist about this.  She kept making me take the glasses off and I couldn't see anything.  I love her--I told her to just go ahead and give me Farrah wings...and she did.  Is your stylist like a therapist?  We also end up laughing and crying (and usually she'll pencil me in as her last client so we can have a glass of wine...or two...together.  Boy, I can get on some tangents, right?

Hope you have a beautiful week.....Julie

  1. I love these spaces! They all share a similarity with the painted floors or painted wood walls combined with some really beautiful intricate furniture pieces - so pretty!
The hairstylist bit is so funny - I'm the exact same way! Happy week from one blind blonde to another! :)

  2. The Farrah wings look fabulous.

I will be ripping up my carpet today right after my coffee because this post just confirms that I WANT A PAINTED FLOOR! The buffet with the hydrangeas was my favorite image. They were all beautiful.

Going back to Rue to read your article!!

  3. Ha! I love this post. First, you look terrific. Second, I am soooo blind too. I often have the same thought - if I was born 100s of years ago, I would be sitting in a hut unable to do anything. Lucky for me, I wasn't!

  6. I think you look totally chic, with farrah wings AND glasses! Thanks for the Monday inspiration. Glad someone else wears their clothes inside out...at least you didn't go shopping around town (like moi) with your dress inside out! It may have been a monday! --Gretchen O.

  8. I think I might have you beat in the glasses department!!! Everytime I go to the eyedoctor, he asks me when I'm going to have Lasiks done? They have to special order my contacts bc they don't keep them stocked, ha!!!

  11. Okay, I'm catching up from vacation and there is so much going on around here! Congrats on everything and please give me all the details! I'm dying of curiosity. Oh and I like your glasses - they're totally cute! ;) P.S. Remind me one of these days to show you the Atlanta Bartlett book I bought in France. It has almost the same photos but it's called the Comforts of Home, which is really confusing because that's the title of another (similar) book that recently came out but by a different author . . . Anyway, it's one of my favorites.

  16. I am BLIND as a bat. You're too funny, I've often thought that I'd be a cripple in the days before glasses. I always pay the extra cash to get my glasses as thin as possible, but then they end up looking like a prism and no, it's not attractive :)
